The Gender Affirming Surgery (GAS) Fellowship programs have established a coordinated fellowship matching process designed to promote accessibility, equity, and fairness for all applicants. As part of this process, binding match rules have been implemented to ensure a transparent and consistent application and selection procedure. These measures aim to create a streamlined experience for candidates while upholding the highest standards of inclusivity and fairness within the fellowship selection process.
International Applicants: The consideration of international applicants, including eligibility for interviews and ranking, will be determined by each program director in alignment with their institution’s current visa and sponsorship policies. These policies may vary by program. As a result, some programs may have restrictions regarding international applicants, while others may be able to consider them without limitation. We encourage prospective applicants to contact programs directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Eligible applicants will have completed an ACGME accredited plastic surgery residency by June of the match cycle, to start fellowship training July/August of same year.
Fellowship candidates should send the following documents to the program(s) of interest:
| Application deadline: | February -March |
| Interview Period: | March-April |
| Rank Lists due: | Early May |
| Match Day: | Mid-May |
| Program length: | Program is a one-year appointment, starting July/August. |
The following match rules apply equally to both programs and applicants, ensuring a fair and transparent process:
| Application deadline: | February -March |
| Interview Period: | March-April |
| Rank Lists due: | Early May |
| Match Day: | Mid-May |
These rules are designed to uphold the integrity and fairness of the match process for all participants while ensuring clear expectations and commitment throughout the cycle.
